d. Ensure that development centers are modern, clean, and convenient for living (p.51)

This activity focuses on development centers, therefore it is not ‘on the basis of pastoralist systems’.

It consists of:

  • introducing housing technologies that use local building materials and designs applicable to the area;
  • eventually changing houses to using corrugated iron roofing;
  • undertaking improvements in the handling of housing utensils through continuous training by health extension services so that people adapt to modern life;
  • planting fruit trees around villages so that they modify the temperature and make them attractive;
  • ensuring that peoples’ organizations adopt a clean environment as their agenda so that development centers are clean and convenient for living;
  • providing public economic and social services like, water, electricity, telephones, health, education services, etc., that are comparable with the national standard;
  • identifying and supporting services that could be provided in conjunction with the private sector.
