This activity focuses on crop farming.

It is based on the following premises:

• ‘pastoral areas … have an agro-ecology that supports pests, diseases, and invasive species multiplication’;
• ‘pastoral areas … are vulnerable to regular and communicable pests’ as a result of ‘sharing borders with neighboring countries’ (p.45).

The activity consists of developing and implementing ‘an integrated pest management strategy … to reduce pre- and post-harvest loss due to insects, plant diseases, and weeds’, using ‘chemicals that have lesser residue and environmentally friendly pesticides’.
