CELEP contributes to MOOC on pastoralism in development

Pastoral development would benefit greatly from a better understanding of pastoralism by project planners. CELEP member organisation IIED (International Institute for Environment & Development) and Saverio Krätli (editor of Nomadic Peoples) have created a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), funded by Misereor, Germany, as an entry point for navigating the available knowledge on pastoralism, including empirical observation, scientific research and theoretical reflection. The MOOC on “Pastoralism in development” was launched on 30 January 2023 and is open for self-learning.

The introductory course supports learning through a range of media including videos, photos, audio material, interviews, graphs, animation and presentations. Two of the animated videos used in the course were prepared in collaboration with other CELEP members in Agrecol Association, DITSL (German Institute for Tropical & Subtropical Agriculture) and VSFB (Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Belgium):

Climate change and pastoralism (4 min)

Variability in time and space (3 min)
