Call for 2nd pastoralism film festival !

The Perspectives on Pastoralism Film Festival seeks to deepen understanding of how diverse peoples across the world gain their livelihoods from extensive livestock husbandry. The relationships of pastoralists, their animals and their food production systems reflect an intimate intertwining of culture, economy and ecology in highly variable environments such as drylands and mountainous areas.

CELEP invites films of multiple genres spanning documentary, narrative and animated for the second edition of the film festival. It seeks films that:

  • are made by individuals or groups who are identify themselves as pastoralist and/or
  • bring pastoralists’ perspectives on their life and livelihood system and/or
  • sensitively portray issues faced within pastoralist societies and/or
  • address broader issues faced in regions where pastoralism is practised and/or
  • reflect the role of mobility in pastoralism.
